SCE&G – CITY OF GEORGETOWN
City of Georgetown: SCE&G is cutting off natural gas service to Front St. and everything from Eat Bay St. to the marsh in the historic district of Georgetown. This area may need to be expanded as far as Meeting St. Customers will receive automated messages about service change, and workers are knocking on doors to talk with homeowners as they prepare to cut service. SCE&G is working with business customers on Front St. to accommodate any requests to help them remain open for the rest of the day. This action is necessary to prevent damage to meters and regulators and limit the amount of time it will take to get service restored after flooding.(From Georgetown County Emergency Management)
BRIDGES
As of 10:24 am on 9/25, US 17 and all bridges are open and we currently have no reason to believe that this will change today. We are monitoring the water level and will work with SCDOT to determine when or if the bridges need to be closed. When that decision is made we will provide as much advance notice as possible. TIDELANDS HEALTH
The Emergency Room at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital will remain open throughout the flooding event to serve the community. As previously shared, we are relocating inpatients at the Georgetown Hospital to Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital for their care and comfort.
Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital and Tidelands Health outpatient locations also continue to operate normally.

COUNTY TO OFFER ON-DEMAND TRANSPORTATION TO EVACUATION SHELTERS TUESDAY
Georgetown County will provide free transportation on Tuesday for county residents who need help reaching emergency evacuation shelters. This will be the only time the county will offer shelter transportation for this flooding event.
On-demand transportation to the county’s shelters in Georgetown and Pawleys Island will be available on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from noon until 4 p.m. It is imperative that anyone who needs to evacuate and is unable to arrange to reach an emergency shelter on their own request a pick-up during these hours. There will not be another opportunity provided to obtain door-to-door transportation to evacuation shelters after 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Anyone wishing to request transportation to a shelter should call (843) 545-3195 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to schedule a ride.
SHELTERS
- Shelters opened at 7 am today, Monday, for people and pets at:
- Georgetown High School, 2500 Anthuan Maybank Dr., Georgetown
- Waccamaw Middle School, 247 Wildcat Way, Pawleys Island
- Additional shelters will be added if they are needed.
- Both locations will have sections that accept pets. However, the following conditions are imposed for those coming in with pets.
- Pets must be crated to be admitted. This goes for dogs, cats and any other animals brought in.
Pets must be attended at all times by the person(s) bringing them in. That person will be responsible for all the pet’s care, including feeding, walking, etc. - People should bring food, medication and any other items pets will need while being sheltered.
- Those coming to shelters should also bring anything their families will need during their stay, including bedding, snacks, games and activities for children, etc.
- For those who would prefer to look for rental accommodations, hotels and vacation homes on the Waccamaw Neck and in the Myrtle Beach area are outside the flood zone and open for business. Additionally, some are offering discounts for evacuees.(CHAMBER NOTE: See CHAMBER NOTES at the end of this email for a link to a list of accommodations providers that have contacted the Chamber concerning evacuees.)

MOST GEORGETOWN COUNTY GOVERNMENT OFFICES CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
All Georgetown County offices and facilities – with the exception of the Landfill, Recycling Centers, and the Emergency Operations Center—will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 25 and will remain closed until further notice.
This DOES NOT include Emergency Management efforts; essential personnel are still required to report and our EOC will still be activated for the duration of this event.
Georgetown County Recycling Centers and the Landfill will be open Tuesday for normal operating hours or until flooding conditions necessitate closure.
CITY OF GEORGETOWN OFFICES REMAIN OPEN TUESDAY
City offices and non-essential operations plan to remain open until 5 pm Tuesday, September 25, unless flooding issues occur.
MESSAGE ABOUT ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE – FROM COASTAL CAROLINAS ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS
If you know of people looking for assistance, The REALTORS® Relief Foundation has been mobilized and is ready to assist victims of Hurricane Florence living in Horry and Georgetown Counties, SC. The REALTORS® Relief Foundation, established by the National Association of REALTORS® is providing relief up to $1,000. You must meet eligibility requirements.
Assistance is available to qualified applicants towards one of the following options:
1) Monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged by Hurricane Florence.
2) Rental cost due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from Hurricane Florence.
Deadline for application submission is November 30,2018. Please note this assistance is for housing relief only; other expenses including second mortgages, vehicle purchase, rental, repair and or mileage are ineligible for reimbursement under this program.
